This is a limited release legal tender coin produced by the Royal Australian Mint with a face value of $200. It contains 10grams of 22ct gold which is 91.67% pure gold so 0.2948 ounces of 9999 pure gold. Because they are still currency they do not attract GST despite not being 9999 pure.The obverse of the coin depicts the Arnold Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II the head of the British Commonwealth. The reverse depicts an Australian Koala sitting in a eucalyptus tree. The $200 gold coin with the koala reverse was minted in 1980 83 and 84 with the Machin obverse and in 1985-86 with the Raphael Maklouf portrait of the Queen.When first minted in 1980 it had a metal value just below its $200 face value.
